The only personal branding strategy you'll ever need (spoiler: it's you)
KEEPING READING FOR MY TOP 5 PERSONAL BRANDING TIPS TO GET YOU 20,000 FOLLOWERS… is not what I’m going to say… (sorry not sorry).
If you’re tired of hearing the exact same tips on your feed, and want a way to build a personal brand that feels real, aligned, and let’s be honest: doable, then stay with me. If you want to:
️⚡ Ditch stereotypical ‘hacks’.
️⚡ Build your personal brand around YOU.
️⚡ And make sure it doesn’t feel like a chore.
Then you’re in the right place! Because without spoiling anything, you are the brand.
Let’s strip it down.
Let’s be real - your feed is full. Full of content. Advice. Opinions. ‘Experts’ telling you exactly how to do things. So… where do you even start? How do you decide what’s actually useful? And how do you know what’s going to work for you? It’s overwhelming. And honestly? Sometimes repetitive. You’ve seen it before:
💓 “Post X times a week”
💓 “Make sure you comment on X posts a day’
💓 “Spend X amount of time on the platform each day”
💓 “Create a content calendar”
Here’s the truth: Most of your favourite creators aren’t doing this. I’ve done the digging - and here’s what’s really going on behind the scenes:
⚡ Carolina Barbosa - Strategy? No… She literally is her own strategy. As she would say, “That’s it. That’s the post”.
⚡ Rebecca Shipton - Is SO unapologetically authentic, it’s insane. Each post screams her personality.
⚡ Allanah Micallef - (not saying I’m your fav at all), but one thing I do is write post to post, no content calendar! It’s how I stay reactive and make posting stay and feel enjoyable.
And guess what? Doing in it a way that feels right for us, works!
You are the brand.
Let’s say that again louder for the people in the back: 🚨 YOU are the brand 🚨
What worked for someone else? Might totally flop for you. That’s okay. That’s actually the point. The truth is the only ‘hack’ that’s proven to work and going to stick long-term is building your personal brand around you. Here’s a way to think about it:
💫 What does your day-to-day look like?
💫 What feels realistic without compromising your other activities and free time?
Start there. No pressure. No rules. Just a loose plan that works with your life right now.
Maybe for you, that looks like:
💓 Creating/scheduling content in advance or posting with the flow.
💓 Posting 5 times a week. Or maybe just or 3.
💓 Spending a max of 30 minutes a day online or an hour.
And here’s the key: none of it is permanent. Try. Test. Tweak. If something feels heavy or off - change it. Because the moment you stop chasing someone else’s formula and start creating from a place of alignment, that’s when your talent will shine through.
Your brand should feel like you - not like another job.
You didn’t decide to start building your personal brand to feel stressed or feel constantly behind. You started it because you had something to say. Something to share! And just because you’ve decided one thing might work best (a schedule, strategy etc), doesn’t mean you have to stick to it.
✨ Give yourself grace.
✨ Stay flexible.
✨ Let it evolve.
The minute you strip back expectations and stop chasing what you “should do” and start paying attention to what actually works for you.. That’s when: things will click and you’ll connect more deeply. So before I leave you, here’s my blessing to:
💓 Skip a day or two or five (until you feel ready to go).
💓 Switch up what works best for you - whether that’s long or short-term.
💓 Try and test different content styles.
Remember: doing something you enjoy, shouldn’t feel like a chore !!! <3
