Module 1: laying your foundations
This module is all about getting started with your freelance social media marketing business. You'll learn how to define your target customers, create a service list with packages that meets the needs of your ideal clients and set a pricing strategy that's both profitable and fair.

Once you have a solid foundation in place, it's time to start preparing our processes. In this module, you'll learn how to create a seamless enquiry process, host discovery calls, send the perfect proposals, build a portfolio, onboard clients and deal with ghosting and rejection.
Module 3: find, sell and attract with ease 💸
Now it’s time to market! Here you'll learn how to clarify your marketing messaging, pick the right platforms for your business, build a website that sells as well as learn proven strategies to create content that attracts clients and understand how to outreach authentically and effectively.

Finally, let’s talk extra bits. This module covers some additional topics that are important for freelance social media marketers, such as invoicing and managing finances, purchasing insurance, creating contracts, off-boarding clients and dealing with imposter syndrome.

Hi, I’m Sophie 👋
I started Freelancing at the beginning of 2021 after finding myself unexpectedly unemployed, heading into another UK lockdown.
I was finishing the last year of my degree and finding a job to carry me through until I graduated in summer was proving impossible. I took to LinkedIn to share that all important “open to freelance work” post, ready for my fate to change. And well… it didn’t.
Finding my first few clients were slow, the £10 hourly fee I decided to charge for my services didn’t get me too far, my processes were non-existent and what was supposed to be the start of an exciting new chapter quickly turned into a nightmare.
Because I wasn’t prepared. I pressed pause and took a step back, committed to clarify my approach and create a strategy that would work. By summer, I was fully-booked for the next 9 months - working with some of the UK’s biggest brands and most importantly I was happy, and I was confident.
And that’s why I created The Freelance Files.
Because freelancing is HARD. I’ve been there, and I wish I had one resource to lay out all of the basics to empower me to confidently step forward with strong freelance foundations.
